Hi,
I've got a Dlink Gamer Lounge Router and a Dlink USB adabper.
Both run at 108G.

I can get them to connect but there is no conectivity, no internet access and it cannot see the router, but it says connected.

Any one got any Idea?

Thanks Eddie

When you refresh the wireless connections by double clicking the wirless adapter icon in the tray, you cannot see the router? Are you sure you know how the router is identified? Have you checked inside the router details to see what name it projects for sure?
Reason I ask that is I just wasted an hour trying to connect a client wireless adapter to the wrong network identity because I assumed Westell 327's Access Points always projected similar idenfiying numbers....

We'll need more info on your setup but this is a start:
Do you have the letter "D" in your system tray?

By cannot see the router I mean that typing 192.168.0.1 does not bring up the router page.
But I have compleatly reset the router to default settings so there is no security and the network is just called dlink.
Yes there is a green D in the system tray saying that it is connected.

I'm assuming that you have broadband of some sort and you are hard-wired to your DLink router that has wireless capability.
And of course you are working on a PC with a wireless card within range of the router.

Have you tried clicking on the "D" and opening the DLink software?
You should be able to do a site survey from inside the DLink software (no MS), find your network and tell it to connect.

Yes, the computer and router are about 2' away.
I have tried with the Dlink software and with the windows connect software.

Both see the network, connect to it, but when I open a browser I get the cannot find page error. And I get the same error when typing the IP of the router.

Can you get on line with an ethernet connection through the router?

Eddie,

Could you please give the Dlink model number? It will help in searching the FAQ and tech support area of the Dlink home page to get some info on this specific router.

Yes I can connect with a cable.

The adapters model number is DWL-G132
The router is DGL-4300

Thanks for all your help guys :)

I hooked up a machine with a DLink DWL-G510 card that's connected to a wireless network.
Perhaps looking at my settings may be of help:

first thing I'd do it turn off encryption until you get this figured out.

Thanks for those pictures, I'll print them off in a second.
I am running with the encryption off at the moment.
What are the chances of it being a dodgy adapter??

Thanks Eddie

It's possible that it's a dodgy adapter but probably not likely.
I think it's a setting.
This is a great time to have a Linux live CD such as Kubuntu 6.06, SuSE 10.0 etc.

One would boot to the live CD and see if Linux can find the network and connect. Then you would know that you have a Windows issue or not.
BTW, both the above distros are very capable in the wireless arena.

Hmmm...if you have a green D in your system tray then your card is communicating with your router (or your neighbor's router :) )
Site Survey will tell you.
We know that your router can connect via ethernet.
Maybe it's your browser. Try an alternative browser.

Do you have manuals for both devices?

Forgot about that, I'll try slackware and Suse when I get bk home to night.
I have tried IE, Firefox and Opera.
