Wow...LK heading for an Intel system!!!
Personally I would use Intel Larry with Intel CPU as the most stable. But commenting on this board the only thing I find wrong is 2 pci slots, otherwise it looks great!
This is the board I have been using for Core2 duo builds and I like it a lot!

I tend to favor this one:
Intel BOXDP965LTCK Socket T (LGA 775) Intel P965 Express ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail

Only because I don't like onboard Video.

Other than the onboard video, I cannot see any difference.

EXACTLY - same board without onboard video!

That is why I posted it, Casey doesn't have to search for it.

temps stay between 50-52 degrees

I happen to be a nut on CPU temperature and was wondering if Conroe runs cooler then other intel chips.
I finally have AMD chips that run in the 90's F and don't feel like I want to go back to worrying about temps.

The reason I'm checking on prices and parts is i'm still waiting for an AMD chip I ordered back in the beginning of Aug. I guess I'm just about at the end of my patience.

one thing to consider - if you intend to install Vista and want the full visual experience of Aero, avoid "integrated video" chipsets because they dont have sufficeint gpu power and dedicated video memory. although the 945G chipset gpu is designed for Vista, it supports only the basic requirements of Aero.

Larry,
Conroe was uspposed to sove the temp problems of the D Series dual cores which ran at 60C on every one I built and for the 2 Conroes I built I saw no difference.

I hate to hear that. I never really had an AMD run that hot and watched them like a hawk. Why should I go back to worrying about temps...

The one thing I can tell you is the temps are static. In other words it may go up at 60C but no matter what you do it never moves either. That struck me as so odd and was true of the original dual core D series as well in my experience. Now also remember I have only done 2 Conroe cpu's as well with stock hsf and same mobo.

Rich brought up the temp a while back and I ran his fan temp program - I got the same results.

That being said - I have never had a system fail from heat. My systems run 24/7 and I just made sure I had a good cooling fan in the back of the system. None of my clients have had a problem with heat related issues.

These systems run the gambit of AutoCAD crunchers to simple data entry "boxes". And I do have a LOT of these systems in the field.
