I missed out on this one. I can't find the MB now. http://www.kickenhardware.net/forum/showthread.php?t=3375

So I'm looking at this one. Have a friend who doesn't build PC's. He wants my machine (MB & CPU) It's an Intel Perl board with a Northwood 3.4 in it.

I have been looking at this combo.
Combo: Intel E6400 with Gigabyte GA945GMS2 945G DDR2 PCI-E Gbit LGA775 for Intel Core 2 Duo mATX Motherboard $79. I can use the onboard video until I can afford a good PCI-E card.

I also want to get a mid tower case. Any suggestions here? I have a PC&Power supply that I want to keep.

Is this really an upgrade? Trying to be cost effective. (I should have jumped on the Pent D set.)

It seems to have everything I need. Will this out perfom my 3.4 Northwood?

What RAM would I want? I really don't OC anymore.

I found an Asrock MB that I can utilize my Radeon 8500 and RAM. What's the opinion on the Asrock please?

Thanks for any help.

Have to have a winter project.

as i recall you mention you are not a gamer.
seems to me your current system is plenty fast, so why not hold onto it for a bit longer till you gather the $$$ for a better motherboard and video card.
my 2 cents...

oh and I'd pass on Asrock as they are low end Asus products.

Sounds like sound asvise to me. I'll do that. I'm also saving for a Core 2 Duo Laptop. What I want is about a kilo dollar. Thanks.

Anyone have any experience with a newer Power Mac? I saw some that have a dual boot, from the Mac OS, then for windows apps, one can reboot to Windows. They were also Core 2 Duo machines.
