Well I bit the bullet and devoted a pc to Vista alone and installed RC1.
I must say once I got the usb wireless driver installed, for which I had to go into safe mode and manually open the driver folder on Usr cd and install the driver as no auto run would work anywhere in safe mode or Windows, all became easier. I had the same problem with mobo drivers for sound and also my Creative Sounblaster card as well.
I find this version much improved from Beta2. My only remaining problem is to figure out how to get this to boot with wireless adapter connected. After boot up I have to repair wireless connections to get into it as it finds no wireless network available every time and for that reason I have used the Vista menu which has a "connect" on it which accesses internet and just added icons for My Computer, Network, Control Panel and all the others to desktop as well.
FF seems to not have spell check in Vista unfortunately.
I am impressed with the speed of surfing, email download and sending and over all program maintenance. This is substantially faster OS than XP, something I don't remember noticing before in Beta2.
All in all this has been a better experience and I might well be tempted to go to Vista earlier than I originally thought. I am even liking Windows mail, the replacement for OE a little better though I still miss the "Contacts" on opening page.
