Micro Center has a 19" monitor that I'm thinking about picking up. It's a WXGA 1440 x 900. I'm looking at my current video settings and it doesn't list that resolution in the list of Modes. So would the monitor come with drivers that would allow my XP Pro machine to take advantage of the wide screen?
I really could use a wide screen display for some of the work that I do.
thanks

Yes, once the monitor .inf is installed

I am having loads of not problems but annoyances with my wide screen. Some applications don't like it and positioning of objects and window sizes tend to be wrong, e.g. a window will cut off so only half of an okay button can be seen. And some small icons are blurred. I'm not 100% but believe this is the wide screen.

I had no difficulty when upgrading to wide screen "19 Viewsonic. Ran the installer that came with it, current CAT ATI driver showed the 140x900 resolution and set accordingly.
1. make sure to check System/Device Manager/Hardware/Monitor and the correct monitor .inf is installed
2. update vid driver if not current
I don't like Windows default PnP monitor driver choices.
Always better to install the specific .inf for the monitor.
Changing vid drivers is a PITA but the most current one usually works the best.
