View Full Version : Problem With Opening Files
When i click files that are located on my desktop i get the following error message;
" This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action.
Create an association in the folders control panel".
All these files were urls dragged from firefox bookmarks.
Any assistance would be appreciated...Thank You.

.
Assuming you mean dragged to the desktop, right-click the icon,
or the file and select the WebDocument tab. Then Copy and
paste the URL into this thread.

Are these the same icons that you asked about in your previous thread (http://www.kickenhardware.net/forum/showthread.php?t=5367)? And if so, did you resolve that problem?
Do these icons have the .lnk following their name on your desktop?
Are these icons shortcuts (small bent arrow in lower left of icon)?

N3 this seems to be a registry association error and that is difficult to fix...
I would do the steps we talked about on Paltalk last night such as tapping F8 at startup to bring up safe mode screen and choose to go back to "last known system configuration at bottom of choices, then System Restore in XP is no joy and finally XP Repair which if you have usual dell cd you can do just like XP cd.

all of which affect the registry....
