software problem

Dear users.

tried to redistribute disc space using acronis disc director, but when i apply the changes nothing happens, anyone know why, could i be doing something wrong? tried this a few times.

windows xp pro service pack 2
160gb partitioned hdd
700+ mb memory

What version are you usng? Trial or bought?
I had the same problem a few weeks ago trying to do the same thing where I wanted to delete a partition and add the space back into main partition and for the life of me I could not do it. I tired deleting first then create then recover partition and I finally gave up and used Partitio0n Magic which I am reluctant to use as it is so old, and "merged " partition 1,2,3 effortlessly.

After you apply the changes, you need to "Commit". I don't have DD running right now, but I remember that there's a Commit button somewhere. The Commit command can also be found in one of the menu items.

As I recall DD has a screen that pops up like Tony said, but it's not on top in some cases, that is, hidden by other screens. If you don't see it you don't realize there is one more click to start the operation. Also be aware that when combining or splitting partitions with gobs of files, the operation can take a long time. Recently MERGED two partitions, took maybe 15 minutes to analyze, then when it started the remaining time started at many days. Ultimately took 6 hours or so. Clicking on CANCEL did nothing until the operation was complete.

Puleeez I did "commit". It did a function, rebooted, ran forever doing the changes and then booted up with no change noted!
