Yea, but Quicken is NOT a networked application. You can only access the data from a single user at a time.
QB, however, is usually used in a networked environment, requires SQL'ish access to the data lock files, and this is the issue with QB - the lock files are activating the UAC (hmmm, already that is being a PITA - and that is just to do YOUR JOB!).
Fred's posting about XP Pro and W2K notes the changes - W2K3 Server is based on the XP Pro and is supported.

I.E., do not upgrade to Vista if you are planning to use QB2006 or earlier. QB2007 is the only version compatible with Vista. As is Intuit's 3-yr sunset policy, no need to worry until 2009 when 2006 features (merchant accounts, emailing invoices, etc. will cease to function completely in whatever o/s you are currently running.

You say User Access Control, MS says, User ACCOUNT Control in Vista, and I say ACL (Acess Control List).
Now that wan't so painful to explain! :boink:
