Huge Black Hole in Add Remove Programs
I've seen this 2 times in the past month on totally different
computers so it's time to get to the bottom of it. Both PCs
had a malware problem, one of them only mildly infected.
The problem existed before I started cleaning so I have no
real clues to what caused it.
The problem shows itself when you got to Control Panel -> Add
Remove Programs and view the list of applications installed.
You page down the list and reach a point where all you see is
black vertical bars. No text, it's mostly black with some white
vertical bands. You scroll down, screen after screen, seeing
same black and while vertical bands. After about 20 screens
you see the remaining list of applications installed.
Everything else works fine in the Add Remove Programs applet.
I can select an application and uninstall as normal. I have
no way to remove this black hole thing.
In both cases, I didn't have the luxury to explore and
experiment with Regedit but I assume the solution is
going to be a registry hack.
Has anyone else seen this problem?
