Vista is hitting with a thud. Bad news keeps rolling in...

HP Printers:

We are sorry to inform you that there will be no Windows Vista printer driver available for your HP product. Therefore your product will not work with Windows Vista.

If you are using the Windows Vista operating system on your computer, please consider upgrading to a newer HP product that is supported on Windows Vista.
HP has numerous products on the market that support Windows Vista

*Oops! gotta buy new printer

OCZ Technology Launches 4GB Dual Channel Memory Kits and Complete Memory Lineup for Vista Systems

*Oops! Need 4g of ram!
No price given but I bet it will be at least 3X the cost of Vista

The HP statement may just be a taste of what's to come from all peripheral device makers. That trend is an easy road to make some cash...
Sorry, your (whatever) won't work with Vista and we won't release any compatible drivers so you have to buy a new one ... and BTW ... now that we have you by the you know what ... the price will be a little higher.

The blogs are filling with tales of "this won't work" even with new Vista machines.
The potential that an "upgrade" may suddenly leave you in need of all new software and hardware ... much of which isn't even on the market yet ... says that Vista may burn a big hole in your pocket real fast!

Potential solution: Mandate that Microsoft give a free "downgrade" to XP to
all purchasers of new computers which came loaded with Vista? .. ;) ;)
