Most of you know you can use native hard drive cleaer in XP from a run window by typing in "cleanmgr.exe" and basically that is what I have been doing since crap cleaner hosed 2 systems and I discovered even under control, all it really does is remove my saved cookies, as does Adaware as well, and make internet travel more time consuming anyway.
So I tried Easy Clean which did the same thing more destructively and gave up for a while.
This AM I tested anothere freeware resource: Advanced Disk Cleaner and it removed a big pile of crap without touching a single needed cookie. This is the first time since demise of Space Ace (too old and not properly updated as was out prior to FF and the Monkey release) I have been excited about something and it is freeware only requiring registration within 30 days if you like it.

Rich, why not give the "one click cleaner" and the "history/MRU cleaner" in the JV16 2007 beta.
I have not given them a run yet but have been using other features of the new JV16.

Besides obvious problems with many of these dumping cookies, etc that you want/need, most fail to empty %\documents and settings\USER\Local Settings\temp
where tons of useless files accumulate. Cleanup in XP is guilty of this. You do have to be careful in there as some programs that maintain active log files in there get really bent out of shape if you delete them.

Never mind, just looked at it and it's not for that. May have other good uses but not an automated cleaner.

Doug, what do you mean by "automated cleaner"?

Is Advanced Disk Cleaner useful in your opinion? Safer than CrapCleaner?

Thanks.
