View Full Version : Purging Print Jobs

Every time that I try to cancel/delete a print job, the printing continues. I think that it prints until the buffer is emptied. If you accidentally send a job to the wrong printer, this could take some time and waste a lot of paper. Typically, I have to empty the paper tray to stop the printing and reboot the computer. Since I have both a color printer and black & white printer attached my computer, I do this more than I'd like to admit.

Are there any ways or programs to avoid this? If it is a buffer problem, anyway to get at the buffer to purge it?

you may have to power down the printer and let it sit for a minute after you have cancelled the print job.

Once it loads to the buffer in the printer, all you can do is shut down the printer.
If still sending from the machine, you should have a printer icon in the systray. Click to open and CANCEL.

My older Deskjet driver let you set the default to B&W and it stays there unless you change it back. I note daughter's newer one defaults to color and you have to go into the settings each time, change to gray scale, and then all black. One pixel of color on the item and it prints with the color cart.
Subtle but deliberate scam to drain the more expensive color ink cart! And... printer won't work without one of each in it!

I thought that I tried canceling the job and powering down the printer but, when powered up again, the printer would continue with the job. Perhaps I was too impatient on the powering back up. But as I say, "It's not like I don't have a lot of patience; I don't have any."

Thanks for the suggestions.

I think you have to wait at least a minute.

Nice. Indicative of advanced tech.
