My daughter may have to use my computer again, this time to burn a CD.
Dell helped her reformat her computer, but she needs to burn something to
a CD. She doesn't have a CD burner .. :fear:

I have a CD burner and CD-R's. Have never used either. Neither has she.

Can you give me any dumbed-down advice and caveats?

Will just trying to follow the instructions on this web site suffice?

You guys were a Godsend when daughter wanted to install QuickBooks on
my computer. Hope you can help us again. ..

Thanks.

As you have the burner, you likely have all the burner software already present, even native in XP.
In most cases, it's simply drag and drop to the CD and then commit to the burn.

Open Explorer, find the files you want to burn to CD.
Place a blank CD in the burner.
Drag the files to the CD drive (D: or whatever)
It will show it copying.
Next, click on that CD drive letter (D:) and it will show files ready to be burned, execute "write to CD" and it will start and then eject the finished CD.
