Does anyone know what message "Data Error" Cannot Copy" Cyclic Redundancy" means?
I created a DVD-R on laptop in 1-27-06 with 2 .avi files of about 1.5 GB. I made 2 discs. One wont open at all. The other opens but if I try to copy files to folder on desktop or to External HDD it goes to 3 minutes remaining, stops running, and gives this message with nothing at all copied.
Since I only have the one file I want to make a copy or a new disc but cant seem to do so. Disc was made on laptop with same Nero that I am now using. How can I get this disc or file copied before it too becomes corrupted?
I have tried Copy To Folder, Copy to Hard Disk Drive, and Nero "Copy Disc" with no success. Laptop has plenty of speed and power and only a year old.

A cyclic redundancy check is a method of creating a hash total of characters written to insure the integrity of a copied file. It usually a symptom that copy did not work properly. If there is a problem with multiple copies, there may be a problem with your burning software.

We had a recent discussion of these errors here (http://www.kickenhardware.net/forum/showthread.php?t=6329) that you might check out.
