IE 6 or higher is needed for a certain website. I take it there is NO IE6 for the Mac, but I see that MSN for the Mac is based on IE6 engine. The MS site is likewise dead. Anyone have any suggestions?

I have 2, with the right firefox extension (just don't ask me witch one) you can tell that website that firefox is IE6, sometimes that works.

Or you could isntall Linux, in a VM or dual boot and use ie4Linux (http://www.tatanka.com.br/ies4linux/page/Main_Page), apparently webdesigners use that to have multiple versions of IE installed at once for testing because they can't do it on Windows. I guess their's some kind of moral their.

Try Safari or Firefox. I use both on Mac OS-X.

I can can switch to an IE view from FF, but that is actually switching to IE. I don't think that is what you are referring to. I'll look for FF /IE search. ThnxI have 2, with the right firefox extension (just don't ask me witch one) you can tell that website that firefox is IE6, sometimes that works.

Forget it, this 'puter is for a green, green newbie and dual boot ->>> fuhget about it!!!

This site doesn't work with Safari or FF in OSX. I tried them both. I can't tell what the issue is, because we never get past the sign-on page, which is:

www.msx.mlxchange.com

This page is part of a multiple listing service for real estate.

Looking at the source, all I see is Javascript and a something referencing back to an .ASP server, which of course, I have no way of deciphering.

Only other idea is for me to try to contact the webmaster.

The client is resigned to purchase an inexpensive PC to compensate.

Try Safari or Firefox. I use both on Mac OS-X.

IEview just opens a link in IE, you want something that tells firefox to identify itself as IE. There must be something for that.

Fred,

Since I don't deal with MAC's this is ONLY a "possibility". But have you tried accessing MS from another MAC and downloading the IE6 from their knowledgebase area?

Fred - I tried accessing the site today with latest Mac OS using Safari and Firefox. I'm seeing the same as you - the site wants IE6 or higher. I suspect that there's something in the page code that checks you browser. If it's not IE6 or better you get the error message.

MS stopped at IE 6. There is no IE 6 for the Mac. Suggest you use another service or as you mentioned, here's a case where you might consider buying a cheap Win machine.

found it, the extension you want is User Agent Switcher (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/59)

If the site works on firefox but refuses to serve the page that will fool it, if it really requires IE it won't help

Good Evening Gentlemen, the "Dillo" Internet program in Puppy Linux Live CD version 2.04 or later has no problem accessing and operating that site.
You may find a "Dillo" program for MAC.
