Pal-Talk add on download and installation instructions. (http://www.locohacker.net/Paltalk_Programs/Paltalk_Download/Gaim-pt_1.5.0_Paltalk_Linux_L197.html)

Haven't tried it yet, I'm curious if it gets rid of the stupid ads.

EDIT: The file is no longer there, and I can't find the new source.

Good Afternoon Phelyx, I visited the Xodian site and it appears all the Paltalk extra items development is scrapped.
I was interested in the Gaim Paltalk program, but it was dated 2005 and is no longer available it appears.

It is interesting to read that programmers opinion of Paltalk.

Thanks for the info.
Let me know if you find anything different.

Cheers, qldit.

I put paltalk on my desktop and the stupid program slows down the boot process. For like three minutes the computer sits there and waits for this program to load.

I have a core 2 duo e6600 and 2 gigs of ram so I don't think my computer is the issue. I only use this program for the wednesday night chat.

It certainly sounds like Paltalk has inserted itself into your start up. There is no reason for it to be there and removing it should speed your start up.

There was an icon in my startup menu bar. I removed it and hopefully it will speed up my boot up process.

You can examine your start up items with the M$ utility (Start | Run | Msconfig, pull down start up tab on right) or with a third party utility like Mike Lin's great little program ( http://www.mlin.net ) to determine if it has been completely removed.

Good luck
