Starcraft on Linux Wine touchscreen (http://www.gadgetroad.com/technology/how-will-we-play-games-in-the-future/2007/05/28/)

I could easily take out my competitors using this method. Basically the touch screens could get a read of your finger prints and then will allow a user to right click by using a different finger than the pointer, such as the index. Could this be the end of the mouse as we know it?

oving your hands over the screen for a mere 5 minutes will surely kill your muscles.

I think that's the key point there

Maybe not?

Unless the screen is prone and right in front of you (both laptop and desktop),
what's going to hold up your arm while you reach to touch the screen with
your finger(s)? Will tennis elbow replace carpal tunnel syndrome? .. :(

I don't buy this at all. The ergonomics of touching the screen and using a mouse are completely different. I could see some type of finger touch control evolving from the mouse, but a touch screen seems like a stretch. Touch screens aren't that new at all. If this is the wave of the future for gaming why hasn't someone already started to use this method?

You should see the mess that ends up being on touch screens

I have several clients that have Point Of Sale terminals and after a few days there are fingerprints, impressions on the screen where they pushed a LITTLE to hard to get the "mouse" to respond, and then there is just the dirt that accumulates around the "prints" :mad2:

Nah, the touch screen has it's pros - but the CONS are even higher when you are talking about double clicking, drop down menus, moving files/folders/emails (sometimes I have to move a message to another folder), and even shutting down the computer.

Yeah Dan is right. Half the clients I walk into I have to clean the monitor screens to see anything and they don't have "touch me" monitors.

Touch screens have been here and done that.
I see the reality of using brain waves as joysticks, mouse, etc.
Jets are flown using a heads-up brain power system. (development)
It's out of the sci-fi stage and will be coming.
When? If I knew that, I'd send you all the winning lottery numbers.:)
(after I won mine first, of course)

That's one reason why I think touch screens will never become popular.
You simply can't be touching display which needs to be clean in order
to see it properly. It's just a bad idea to be touching the screen.
