Ok Terry, at your suggestion, let's see what happens in this thread. I would like to know which components when put together will produce the fastest but effective [no crashing or any other problems] pc available today?

Mike, doubt you will see that here. Go to all the overclocking sites and forums and see what they are talking about as the hottest combo today. That is where you will find the right mix of chipset, CPU, and ram that is playing nice together and what they did to make it zoom.

Six months of research ... 30 minutes to slap it together!

Mike,

You don't make reference to how much equity you have in your house for this "fastest but effective " system.

For instance - this processor lists on New Egg for $1,295.00 today
Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6800 Kentsfield 2.93GHz 2 x 4MB L2 Cache LGA 775 Processor White Box - Retail

Motherboard: Lists for $232.99
Intel BOXD975XBXLKR LGA 775 Intel 975X ATX Intel Motherboard -

And then you have the memory - do you want "standard" 800mhz or the FAST 1066mhz? ? ? ?

Dan makes a good point- all depends on how much ya have to spend....

Mike

Another way to express what Dan and Rob are saying is: Your new computer can be fast, reliable and inexpensive - pick any two.
